Winter Oranges

Mandarins
Promise sunshine
And hot concrete.
Clementines
Call rhymes
For scorching feet.
Navels
Spray sweetness
In thirsty eyes.
Tangerines
Paint blazes
Across gray skies.

This is another hay(na)ku poem–with one word in the first line, two in the second, and three in the third. When I first used the form, I found it quiet and peaceful. Now that the holidays are over I’m feeling more energized so I wanted to see if the form could also express that feeling too.
