haiku, plants

Gray-Green Lichen

flaking gray-green paint
lichen creeps across granite
I clamber the hills

Is there anything more challenging than writing a haiku? There’s so much more to it than the syllables.

I liked it as soon as I read it. What do you think is the most difficult part?

For me the most difficult part is getting in two images (traditionally, one related to the season) that resonate with one another.

Here’s an incredible example by William Carlos Williams:

    So different, this man
    And this woman:
    A stream flowing
    In a field.
