Early Morning
For the folded crocus
In the dark they sing
For the dim daffodil
In the dark they sing
For the somnolent tulip
In the dark they sing
For the imminent crowd
In the dark they sing
For they cannot wait
In the dark they sing
For the lingering sun

Lovely poem, Liz. Our daffodils have just peeked through. Won’t be long now :).
What an openng! I have seen our first crocuses…Spring is closer than we think.
It’s a wonderful poem, but we have a long wait for anything to peek up soon in Colorado. I like the idea of the birds beginning to chirp before dawn. Nothing yet. I like the repetition!
How lovely this poem is, and full of up and wonder — the things that happen in the dark that bring us to light…. thank you for sharing!
