We’ve been in for 7 days now, and the school is filled up at last with the students’ work & play & laughter-thank heavens! I like your first, anticipation, then the sounds, & the history. So often my students would say things like ‘look, this used to belong to _______.’ You captured it just right, LIz.
We’ve been back for three days now and the library is still not ready. We got new shelved this summer and I’ve been helping the librarian re-shelve and weed the collection.
Those haiku capture the nervous energy of those first few days so well.
Cool photo. I like your school bus.
Great haiku. Well done.
Arizona has been “in school” since Aug. 3.
Enjoyed those, although the cicadas in my hood screeech loudly!
Excellent – made me feel like I was back in school once again …
Great haikus! The pointy crayons in nice neat rows reminds me of how nice our rooms look before the first day.
Joy,
August 3rd? To keep them out of the heat?
Liz
Doug, our cicadas seem to hum, whisper, chant, sing, screech, implore, and relent!
We’re back next week – but your haiku made me feel like it was the first day just now, as I read your haiku.
It is that time of the year once again, I could sense it even more now as I visit quite a number of Poetry Friday posts. Have a lovely school year ahead of you!
It is that time of the year again, evidently! Thanks for sharing all this. Love it!
You’ve captured so many moments so perfectly!
Hi Liz! Love your poetry. Tomorrow is your first bloggaversary (sp?)

hugs to you, loriann
Loriann,
Thanks for stopping by and reminding me. With all the excitement of the new school year, I hadn’t even noticed!
