Happy Earth Day!
Things To Do If You’re the Earth
Swoop in circles
around the sun.
Spin.
Go on and on,
and on,
and on.
Wear layers.
Carry water.
Don’t laugh when we run.
Don’t cry when we dig.
Give us a home.
Keep our history
under your skin.
Shiver and explode.
Remind us
you exist.
When you are sick
and feverish,
forgive us.
Hold us
close.

Today I’m sharing one from the archives. I hope you have a lovely day.
Liz
Beautiful.
Beautiful one. Reminds me of the Giving Tree.
So lovely, and yes, please “forgive us.”
When I saw your link title, I knew I had to add one more SKY poem to my page today, then come over to read! Thanks for the beautiful poem today!
Wow. I LOVE this poem! “Keep our history under your skin.” You remind us how precious Earth is and our responsibility to care for her without an ounce of preaching.
Shiver and explode.
Remind us
you exist.” Hard as it must be, it’s also good to be reminded.
Your ending gave ME shivers, Liz. But not the feverish kind. The “I can’t believe what we’re doing to our planet” kind.
What a beautiful tribute to our beautiful earth!
A huge thank you to everyone for stopping by and leaving such lovely notes!
I love this poem so much. Every single bit of it.
I’m with Mary Lee…loved every single bit of it. And especially
“Keep our history under your skin.”
